The millennium came amid much anticipation. The world didn’t meet with disaster, as some predicted, but it did bring a change of attitude. The flamboyance that was the signature of the 80’s changed to the sensibilities of the 90’s and turned into the sincerity of 2000. This marked a change in attitude among people looking for private party entertainment. Hiring a band became less of a status symbol and more of an essential element of a great party. Not just any band would suffice.
Along came the mega-entertainment companies, with a wide selection of four to seven bands. Continuing to demand of themselves the level of talent and professionalism that their reputation professes, Sid maintains a busy schedule. Performing under the name, Sid Miller Dance Band and aided by their strategic partnership with Brandywine Valley Talent, Sid Miller and his orchestra go about the task of entertaining at private parties with the same dedication they started with in 1986. The Sid Miller Orchestra retained their value by adhering to what had gotten them to where they were in the first place, which is the same philosophy as Brandywine Valley Talent -- believing in the music and respecting the sincerity of those who were looking for private party entertainment.
The members of Sid's twelve piece powerhouse ensemble have performed in the bands of such music legends as Teddy Pendergrass, Billy Paul, Chaka Khan, Grover Washington Jr., The Delphonics, The Stylistics, The Temptations, The Three Degrees, Bloodstone, The Manhattans, Blue Magic, Boyz 2 Men, The Chiffons, The Crystals, and The Dells.
The band’s versatility and authentic representation of popular songs perpetuate his reputation and has lead to many honors, including the 2000 Presidential Inaugural Ball, New York State Senator Alfonse D'Amato's Son's wedding reception, the wedding reception of Tina Fey, the star and head writer of Saturday Night Live, "Mean Girls", and 30 Rock. Sid and his band have been voted one of the top event bands in the nation by the national publication, Modern Bride Magazine. The Sid Miller Dance Band also provided the music for the 2006 R&B Foundation Awards VIP Party, whose guests included Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Patti LaBelle, Gerald Lavert, The Delphonics, the president of Motown Records, Berry Gordy, and the great songwriters, Ashford and Simpson, Kenny Gamble, and Thom Belle.
The Sid Miller Orchestra truly embraces the music of the 20th century and the music that propels the new millennium. Audiences are amazed with the dexterity with which Sid and his band move between different musical styles. The Sid Miller Orchestra horn section is considered one of the best in the industry. Effortlessly recreation the power horn sections of bands like Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago and Tower of Power. Listening to the band, you can't help but be impressed!
