The 90’s saw less self-indulgent spending, but an improved sensibility about value. This was evident as couples sought to entertain their guests at their receptions. Among the numerous “wedding bands”, which peppered the industry, the Sid Miller Orchestra began to set itself apart.

The value brought to receptions by the Sid Miller Orchestra was unequaled refinement, a kicking band and a marvelously good time had by the guests. Any stigma that was attached to a band that played at wedding receptions was quickly erased when the Sid Miller Orchestra played. They became known not as a wedding band but a true-performance band similar to the one on “Saturday Night Live”.

Sid’s reputation as a bandleader and the band’s own reputation for outstanding musical quality, attracted even more superb entertainers and musicians to the band. Patrice Hawthorne, coming off of a series of concerts with her counterpart, Herb of “Peaches and Herb”, and Jayar, keyboardist and background singer for George Benson, found a home with the Sid Miller Orchestra. The band itself saw some personnel changes as some musicians went on to pursue other professional endeavors. Members of the band pursued solo recording careers. Vivian Green, one of the Sid Miller Orchestra’s lead female vocalists, has enjoyed continued success recording for Columbia Records.

The changes in personnel only added to the Sid Miller Orchestra’s excellence. The level of musical ability remained stellar, with the band still playing with authenticity and energy. Sid Miller’s ability to notice talent and then cultivate it is one of the reasons his band grew in popularity throughout the 90’s
